Representative, Connecticut House of Representatives; Co-Chair of the Energy and Technology Committee

Representative Lonnie Reed is currently serving her fifth term in the CT House of Representatives. She is House Chair of the Energy & Technology Committee, Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Life Sciences Caucus and Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Long Island Sound Caucus. She also serves on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.

Rep. Reed played a key role in crafting and enacting Connecticut’s Comprehensive Energy Strategy (CES), a master plan to aggressively pursue clean and renewable energy goals. She helped establish the nation’s first Green Bank, a public/private investment partnership to fast-track energy efficiency and clean energy development. The CT CES and the CT Green Bank are widely viewed as successful, innovative models for the nation.

Prior to entering elective politics, Rep. Reed worked as an award winning newspaper journalist in Seattle; as an investigative news reporter and anchor for television stations in Florida, Connecticut and NY; and as a contributing correspondent to CBS News. She has been a White House correspondent; hosted Off the Set, a political talk show in NY and been honored for her investigative reports. Additionally, she has co-partnered her own company, Iger/Reed Productions. Her work has received primetime Emmy Awards and multiple film festival prizes. Productions include the award-winning documentary, Muhammad Ali: The Whole Story.

Lonnie Reed has written, produced and/or directed projects for television networks such as NBC, TNT, ABC, PBS and the History Channel. She lives in Branford, CT and spends what free time there is traveling to keep up with her far-flung family.
